Lake lots, sand and HOA standards
The soil here is deep sand, which drains quickly but shifts if the base is not compacted well. Lakefront yards slope toward the water, so grade and edge carefully. In the newer communities, HOAs set the look, and turf keeps a yard consistent through dry springs and watering restrictions.
Land O’ Lakes turf questions
What delivery zone is Land O’ Lakes in?
Most of Land O’ Lakes, including Bexley and Lake Padgett, is in zone 3. Connerton and the far north end are in zone 4. Check the delivery map for your address.
How do I keep turf from shifting on sandy soil?
Compact a crushed-rock base over the sand, nail the edges and seams, and add infill so the turf stays heavy and flat.
